The OVTA was formed in 1975 to KEEP THE STORY ALIVE. They did this through the annual Commemorative March which raised the awareness of the Overmountain Victory Trail and the Campaign to the Battle of Kings Mountain to the public. Through their efforts, Congress passed the legislation and President Jimmy Carter signed into law recognizing the route of the Overmountain Men as a National Historic Trail

Without the efforts of these fine people, this would never have taken place and that fire to keep this STORY alive would have long ago burned out. Many thanks and Godspeed.
